Meet our Baristas
Boyd Johnson
Born and raised in Hickory, Boyd recently received a degree in communications studies at Gardner-Webb University. He has a particular affinity for playing and listening to jazz and electronic music. Both together are good too. His faith is very important to him. He likes to try everything on the menu, but a favorite is the time-tested latte. Hobbies include learning new instruments, photography, and cinematography. Boyd will be married this year.
Rachel Hall
Born in Hickory, raised in Hickory, still in Hickory, Rachel is currently a student at Lenoir Rhyne University and majoring in Graphic Design. She is a big fan of all things coffee, designing, playing music, and Jesus.
Rachel Aldrich
Having only recently become a barista, her love for delectable coffee drinks started long before her arrival at Emerson's. Coming from Maryland, Rachel recently graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University and has became folded into the arms of the Emerson's Coffee family. Until her future is unveiled she plans to stay and continue to create drinks for the public of Hickory, NC.
Alyssa Horrocks
Alyssa moved to Asheville from Raleigh to attend UNCA where she pursues a classics major with a concentration Greek and Latin. She is strongly attached to two crazy roommates, classical piano, and a car that usually doesn't do what it's supposed to. Her favorite Emerson's drink is anything caffeinated!
Jason Mclaughlin
Originally from Illinois, Jason now resides in Asheville. He's been a barista for three years and loves every minute of it. When not servin' up slammers or layin' down lattes he's usually hiking, biking, reading, or cooking. He loves foamy lattes and chocolate, peanut butter, banana frappes. He has returned to school for a second degree and dreams of traveling around the world. When he's not working at Emerson's, he's flying through trees as a zipline guide.
Caleb Hayworth
Born in Indiana, raised in Georgia, and recently moved to Hickory, Caleb is a current student at CVCC. He is also the Generations Director at Vintage City Church and loves what he does. Caleb also loves music, movies, hanging with friends, and meeting new people.
Cassidy Moore
Cassidy, originally from Virginia, moved to Asheville almost 3 years ago. She enjoys making coffee for our loyal customers and new ones alike. Cassidy is a "founding barista" so to speak as she served on our opening day March 1, 2011. Her other work with fair housing as well as Elementality keeps Cassidy very busy.
Jessica Soper
Hey, I'm Jessica. I was born in Philadelphia, PA and raised right outside in South Jersey. Since graduating high school I have lived in many different states and traveled all over the country. Out of everywhere I've been I consider Asheville to be my home and am so happy to have finally, permanently returned. I love all things coffee and when I'm not serving you delicious drinks, I enjoy going to shows and music festivals and spending time with my two pups, Lola and Ruby. I also enjoy camping, hiking, being outside, and doing yoga. My favorite Emersons drinks are the dirty hippie and the cafe mocha.
Chelsea Wills
Originally from East Tennessee, Chelsea moved to the Asheville area 12 years ago, and fell in love with the beautiful mountains. Being a simple and laid back person, whether it's camping or hiking with friends, she loves being outdoors. She loves going to shows to dance and listen to live music, Asheville is the perfect place for her. Chelsea's favorite Emerson's drinks are the vanilla chai and a banana mocha frappe.
